One of the must-see games of the season this is. And yet another must-win too. Whitstable always bring a great following, and are happy to make a lot of noise. Bring your family. Bring your shouty voices. Bring your cash to stick in the bucket for Simon.
Let's keep this historic goalscoring run going.
Come On You Whites!

Faversham 1 Whitstable 3.
A bad day at the office.
But, no run (11 unbeaten in the league and 6 wins in a row) can last forever!
Important to show some character and bounce back on Tuesday.
There hasn't been much need to rotate the squad in recent weeks.
Now, the squad players will get a chance to prove themselves with changes needed (Botts/ Dean suspended and I will be surprised if someone didn't pick up a fifth yellow card today).
Let's resume normal business on Tuesday!

Faversham Town 1-3 Whitstable Town
Starting line up:
Rob French Aidan Sherlock, Jamie Maxted, Matt Bourne, Ashley Brown, Charley Robertson, Wayne Wilson, Dave Botterill, Josh Stanford, Dean Grant, Jack Harris.
I think I've gone on record previously to say that reporting, (I use the word loosely) from a fans' perspective, is much easier following a win. Defeats present a different challenge. I haven't changed my mind. But onward, here goes.
Part 1. The match detail. A decent half from Faversham. An early Wayne Wilson free-kick from the left, the Whitstable keeper saves well to his right. Corner. Another from a similar position, a bit of a goal mouth scramble. We can't force it home. A flowing move down the left, Dave Botterill, Jack Harris and Josh Stanford combine, Josh's centre is met by Dean Grant. The header is over. A Charley Robertson run down the right is brought to an illegal end. Wayne Wilson's free-ki22:38 24/01/2015, Dave Botterill's header, saved by the keeper. And then a fine move, Dave Botterill receives in midfield, sprays an exquisite ball out to Josh Stanford on the left, Josh's looped effort lands on the roof of the net. Not far off. And then possibly Whitstable's best chance of the half. A free-kick from their right has Rob French back peddling, but a good save, well tipped over. Corner. The last chance of the half, a Wayne Wilson corner, eventually falls to Charley Robertson, central on the edge of the box, low shot, safely gathered by their keeper. 0-0 H-T.
Second half. We concede early. Whitstable attack down their right. Low centre to the near post. Rob French can't collect and the whitstable forward fires home. We respond. A deep Wayne Wilson corner from our left, comes back from the far post and Jamie Maxted flicks home. Goal-scoring left back does it again. How many is that now? Fantastic. Another free-kick, Wayne Wilson takes, right across the goal, just needs a touch. Not forthcoming. Jamie Maxted takes advantage of some lax Whitstable defending, but fires over. We're down to 10 men (I'll come to that later), Whitstable attack down their right, ball into the centre. Clinical. Good goal. And then similar. We're trying to get something from the game, caught on the break, Whitstable score.
Part 2. Our Opponents Well played to Whitstable today. Can't argue with the result today. Whitstable's day.
Part 3. The Officials Let's set the scene. A local derby, two in form teams, a bumper crowd. This was not a dirty game. But somehow, we get 11 yellow cards (2 yellows became red) and two straight reds A potential cracking game between 2 good sides spoiled. Am I allowed to say the referee was poor?
So, reasons to be cheerful:
a) 450 plus today. Fantastic. b) without doubt, this is still the best club.
COYW,

Excellent summary again Dave.
On the Referee's performance, I thought I should add one thing to what you have - quite correctly - said.
As Dean was sent-off, I thought I would check back on how many players actually had been booked.
I counted 6 for Faversham at that stage and 3 for Whitstable.
Now does anybody think that was a fair assumption of a relatively clean local Derby (I thought so anyway) until that point.
Obviously, it got worse after that.

A considered and fair account there Dave. Yes, a disappointing result. Yes, a bizarre number of cards from start to finish. But as I watch Match of the Day whilst tapping this into my phone, today seems to be a day characterised by upsets - albeit with the winning teams (from Bradford to Middlesbrough to Whitstable) probably all feeling they achieved it on merit. Credit where it's due.
We will have these days when it doesn't quite run right. But we also know that these days are outnumbered by the days when we come good.
I loved the queue snaking across the car park before kick off. This was people from our town turning out to watch our team. I loved the fact that we can raise £600 from that same crowd to help out our injured keeper in his time of need. And, odd though it sounds, I loved standing next to an away contingent that sang and shouted throughout the game. This was banter in the proper sense of the word. And I appreciated the players and manager coming over to acknowledge the support at the end of the game when they probably just wanted to get inside and regroup.
Regroup we will. Because this wasn't by any stretch a poor performance.
It's now 37 consecutive league games since the last time we didn't score. That's still the best in the country. The country. We're still securely in second spot with clear blue water below us. And we know that come Tuesday the team, the bench, the backroom workers, and the terrace supporters, will be back in force.
Back in winning ways.
Onwards and upwards.
Come on you Whites!

I wonder how many of the yellow cards were for players giving disrespectful verbals to officials? Stupid actions whatever team they played for! We want our players on the pitch performing their skills and talking with their feet. That's what gets a team promotion.

Link to match video . . . youtu.be/BBmyF97Um7s. My view of Whitstable’s third goal was blocked by the crowd – so no footage of the last goal.

Thanks for the video footage.
Two points:
Reviewing Dean's first booking - simulation can sometimes be a grey area but studying that clip I really can't see any hint of it. Dean got to his feet immediately and didn't make any fuss afterwards. His play didn't appear to be dangerous either so I simply don't understand that one. Of course, this decision was pivotal as his second yellow (whether correct or not) meant a red. Hope the club can appeal against this? Is video evidence allowable? Dean's sending off was the moment the game changed. The other two being a double sending off and too late in the game to affect the result. Even worse is losing Dean through suspension. This just proves why it's so brilliant at the moment to have strong playing squad knowing replacements are high calibre too.
Does anyone have any knowledge of what happened to Wayne's "goal"? That incident was bizarre even if again probably too late to make a point changing difference.

They said that it had gone through a hole in the side of the net. Video evidence is only used for red cards you cannot appeal bookings

Watching the video (on freeze frame) you can just about see the ball go the wrong side of the post and back in off the wire holding up the net. So a fair call. Meanwhile, take a look at Ray's comments on the website. Couldn't agree more. www.favershamtownfc.co.uk/250115dugout.html
