So, after spending Christmas at the top of the League Table, we are back in action tomorrow with a local Derby against Sittingbourne.
Will be interesting to see how the match goes between one very good defensive side that struggle to score goals and one that can't stop scoring!
We have already beaten Sittingbourne once this season, but no doubt, this will be a very different game.
Let's keep this unbeaten run going though - currently at six games (I think)!
See you tomorrow.

As the old song goes: "You're just a small town near Teynham!"
(as sung in both directions!)

Turns out that we only have one song....
(But only because we were winning by three clear goals so I held back with "You're just a suburb of Bapchild")
And I believe we can safely say "We Are Top The League! We Are Top The League!"
COME ON YOU WHITES!!
(There's that song again...)

What a game and great to see a bigger crowd.Lets hope we can keep the numbers up for the rest of the season.Sittingbourne were abysmal and i would be worried if i were a fan of theirs. That was relegation fodder they served up.As for only having one song here are a few i heard from behind the goal in the second half. 1.Can we play you every week, can we play you every week. 2.Sacked in the morning, you're getting sacked in the morning. 3.We want 4,we want 4 4.Plus numerous ole's This game reminded me of a game a few years back when we won 4-0 and Adrian Stone got 2 as well as Aaron Quain

Faversham Town 3-0 Sittingbourne
Starting line up: Simon Overland, Aidan Sherlock, Jamie Maxted, Matt Bourne, Ashley Brown, Josh Stanford, Wayne Wilson, Dave Botterill, Charley Robertson, Dean Grant, Jack Harris.
A potentially tricky local derby against fired up mid-table opposition. Convincing victory. Professionally done. In front of a heaving Salters Lane. All in all very satisfactory - but a sting in the tail.
Good start. Early chance, Jamie Maxted wins the ball in midfield, the centre finds Dean Grant, the shot is at the keeper. Plucked out of the air. On 10 minutes, a S'bourne break, Simon has to come out, clears the danger, but the result is not good. Our keeper is off on a stretcher. Massive, massive, blow. Rob French is on. On 25, we attack down our right, S'bourne concede a free-kick for let's say an agricultural challenge. Wayne Wilson's delivery is spot on, right to left, Dean Grant in space, unmarked, plenty of time to pick his spot, and pick his spot he does. Opposite top corner. A fine header. 1-0. Dave Botterill wins the ball in midfield, plays in Charley Robertson down the right, plays in Josh Stanford, Josh slip the ball just wide. Close. S'bourne attack down their left Matt Bourne makes a last ditch block to prevent the strike on goal. Top defending. Corner. We finish the half on top, Two good chances. Jack Harris, left side of the box, twists, turns, makes space, fires across goal, just wide. Another fine Jamie Maxted center, Dean Grant diving header. Goal. But the spoilsport lino has their flag up. It would have been a great goal. 1-0 at H-T.
Second half. The perfect start. Josh Stanford breaks from midfield. From then on, my notes are a mess. Other than, both Jack Harris and Josh Stanford have strikes on goal, a combination of the keeper and defensive clearances off the line keep it out, perm that as you will, but Charley Robertson brings some clarity, fires home into the side netting. Luvverly. 47 mins apparently. Excellent work by Charley Robertson, plays in Jack Harris, low shot, keeper saves. Corner. A Dean Grant low shot is gathered by the keeper. And then the third goal that the dominance had deserved, Josh Stanford wins the ball in left midfield, drives forward, plays in Charley Robertson. An emphatic finish-absolutely buries it. Right to left into the side netting. More chances in a dominant second half display. Josh Stanford and Charley Robertson combine, S'bourne's defence breached. Charley Robertson's run, the shot is saved. And a decent Jamie Maxted effort swerves just wide of their keeper's right hand post.
Sponsors' MOM: Charley Robertson
See you all at D'Bay on New Years Day. COYW.
So reasons to be cheerful:
a) emphatic. Dominant performance. 3-0. And we were well worth it. b) 460+ crowd. Fantastic. c) defensively superb. How many good chances did S'bourne have. I counted one, maybe two.
And then not so cheerful:
We may have lost a big player for some time. Simon Overland has been fantastic for us. Let's wish a speedy recovery to the best keeper in R1S.

Some intriguing fixtures among the Top 5 coming up during the next six weeks:
7/1 Burgess Hill v Folkestone 17/1 Merstham v Folkestone 24/1 Leafe v Merstham 14/2 Merstham v Burgess Hill 18/2 Burgess Hill v Leafe
So while the others take points off each other, all we have to do is keep winning...that's all...!

So massive game tonight: Burgess Hill 3 Folkestone 1 and the Hillians had a player sent off after only 30 minutes.
Anything's possible but surely BH won't blow the automatic place now. We can only hope for their unlikely implosion?
That leaves us four points ahead of our nearest rivals in the play off chasing pack with 2nd, 3rd & 4th teams having all played 28 games. If anyone else catches us we would have dropped some serious points in the run in ourselves.
