Ramsgate 0-5 Faversham Town
Starting line up:
Simon Overland, Aidan Sherlock, Jamie Maxted, Matt Bourne, Ashley Brown, George Monger, Dave Botterill, Wayne Wilson, Charley Robertson, Jack Harris, Dean Grant.
Can't ask much more from an away performance. Uncompromising at the back. Clinical up front. And the midfield pulled the strings. Ok, forgive me the flowery language. But a comprehensive victory. A thoroughly professional performance and we were well worth the five goal margin.
Our first chance of note. A Wayne Wilson free-kick from the right, punched by their keeper, the ball comes out to Jack Harris, squared to Dean Grant on the edge of the box, the shot is over. Ramsgate respond. A ball out of defence plays in a Ramsgate attacker, into the box, Simon Overland makes a great block, but the ricochet falls kindly for another Ramsgate man. Open goal. Surely we'll be 1 behind, just a gentle sidefoot needed. But somehow, the Ramsgate man contrives to miss and it's wide. It almost seemed to happen in slow motion. A real let off. And in time honoured fashion, we make Ramsgate pay for their profligacy in front of goal. We go up the other end. On 17, a Wayne Wilson free-kick, swung in from the right, the ball comes out to Jack Harris, right hand side of the box. A twist, a turn and a low finish into the far side netting. A fine strike, 0-1. On 34, it gets even better. Another Wayne Wilson free-kick, this time from the left, arrowed in. I'm going againt the grain here, there is some debate about the scorer, so report what you (thought) you saw. I'm going with Matt Bourne, with his back to goal, heads passed the keeper's right hand and the into the net. The majority have gone with an own goal. CJK's video will reveal all!! Two minutes later, and no doubt about this one. A long ball out of defence, Ramsgate decline the invitation to clear, the ball is with Jack Harris, Jack bides his time, draws the Ramsgate defence, waits for the run of Charley Robertson, lays the ball into the run and Charley does what's required and places it passed the keepers' left hand. 0-3. With a minute of the half remaining, a Ramsgate attack down their right, a cross, a header, it's going in, top corner, but Simon Overland stretches and claws it away with his right hand. Great save. Corner. H-T 0-3.
The first 10 minutes of the second half, well it's a bit untidy. No real flow. But that changes on 56. George Monger does well on the left hand side, wins the ball and plays a searching ball for Jack Harris to run onto, Jack brings it inside, the defender buys the feint inside, a low strike into the far corner. Great goal. 0-4. A Ramsgate corner from their left, arrives at the back stick, volleyed goalward, Simon Overland makes a great block. We're denied a penalty when Dean Grant is manhandled to the ground in the box. Not sure how that wasn't a penalty. Jack Harris is then given a yellow for a trip after being fouled himself. Hhhmmmm. Jack makes way for Kieran Oliver. Excellent wing play from Charley Robertson on the right, delivers a low, hard cross into the box, Kieran Oliver gets on the end, but the effort spoons over. George Monger on the left, a ball into the middle, Dean Grant places a fine header into the path of Kieran Oliver's run, Kieran draws a fine save from their keeper. And on 80, the icing on the cake. Dave Botterill finds Kieran Oliver, on to Dean Grant, back inside to Wayne Wilson on the edge of the box, and a thumping drive threatens to burst the back of the net. Keeper had no chance. Dan King is a late substitute for Dave Botterill.
So, of course, reasons to be cheerful: a) 0-5, away from home. No need to elaborate. Convincing. b) still top of the league-been there for over a month now c) back to Salters Lane next week. Merstham, mulled wine and mince pies. Mouthwatering. Can't wait, See you there.
Full on team performance today. 0-5. Fantastic.

Ramsgate 0 Faversham Town 5.
I think Mr Turner summed it up perfectly by calling it " a good performance all-round."
Obviously, it's excellent to score another five goals - but when did our side last let us down for goals?!
Jack and Dean again linked-up well up front.
Charley really impressed me today. As did George, Botts and Willo - who didn't do anything spectacular but did their respective jobs really well.
Nice to see Bourney back in the back five and they all got their reward for today's display with a clean sheet.
On top of that, Kieran did well off the bench - and on another day - could have got a few goals in the final 25 minutes.
Kingy did nothing wrong either in the final few minutes he was on.
Onto a tough test next Saturday against Merstham.
But, for now, nice to stay top for abit longer and the gap between ourselves and sixth keeps increasing!
