Ok, most games are big but this is a big, big, big one.
The league table is really starting to take place now.
After our mixed form since we went top of the table, we will have to get a result to stay top.
Burgess Hill are hot on our heels, plus have games in hand, and we don't want to give Folkestone the chance to close the gap, before next Saturday.
If we can win and move onto 45 points, we could also have an 11-point gap over the fifth-placed side - provided Tooting & Mitcham do not beat Merstham. An unlikely result I would suggest after Merstham's 8-0 win over Guernsey.
There does tend to be goals when we visit the Rebels (we lost 4-2 last season and won 5-3 the season before that).
It sounds like Worthing are in reasonably good form, although, I'm sure we will get a result if we perform like we did on Tuesday night at Margate.
See you on Saturday.

Seriously big game tomorrow.
I've been lurking on the Worthing forum. There seems to be some deep seated resentment over the perceived manner of our win in the first game of the season. Not sure I understand why. Insulting?-well yes. Do we care? well yes if it's informed, no if it isn't. So it's a no we don't care then.
Be good to get a decent crowd tomorrow, I'm leaving about 12, any of the halfway line crew need a lift contact me.

Just seen the Worthing forum and ....... hmmmmmmmmmm! Some very offensive remarks from some of their supporters. I picked this one out in particular: "First league game in a while let's hope for a good turn out fingers crossed for some nice weather! Let's hope we can make a bit of noise and really get behind the team and get a bit of home form going! No doubt Faversham will bring next to no away fans so hopefully we can make a little bit ofa RED ARMY." I accept that we don't bring a huge away contingent in comparison to a few other Ryman League sides (think Maidstone, Margate, Guernsey etc). But, we do bring a core of 15-25 die-hard supporters - regardless of where and what day almost every single match is played (with the potential exception of Guernsey away). I think it's really wrong for them to criticise our support. We have managed to outnumber home fans at some away games in the past few years (CDG last year and maybe Three Bridge this season), which shows the supporter base is still expanding. In fact, according to www.footballwebpages.co.uk/isthonesouth/attendances, we are sixth in the average attendance list. Guess whose bottom?! Then, there is still the "physical side" drivel - *yawn *. Yes, we are a quite physical team but we have a number of technically-gifted players to - do the opposition ever talk about them? Of course not. The prime example is a comment on the Worthing about two big "lumps" in centre midfield. I assume they are Willo and Botts that are being refereed to. Willo is one of the best set-piece takers in the Ryman League, and our manager Mr Turner, probably correctly, suggested his set-pieces are "football league standard" when he left for Margate last season. Then, Botts is one of the most consistent players in the Ryman South and he really has played well lately. Like you Dave, I presume this has stemmed from the first game of the season. I can understand them being keen on getting a little bit of payback, but personally, I think most of the above comments are just unnecessary insults. FAV Army!

Worthing 1 Faversham Town 2.
Football can sometimes be such a beautiful game!
I think I will leave my match summary at that.
A special shoutout to the two Faversham lumps in midfield and the invincible supporters!
P.s. Good to see Burgess Hill and Folkestone both dropped points.

Worthing fan in peace here and have just read this on here and its laughable!
No one is trying to offend faversham we just give our own views like you have yours.
From your post above your clearly didn't read the average attendance table properly as its not working its in alphabetical order so we are not last and certainly get better average attendances than your self's.
Ill be honest i don't know how you guys are top of the league( from what i have seen ) you are hoof and hope team with all over the top ball. Today you played well first half but were very lucky for us to go down to ten two challenges first one your player jumped so high he hurt him self and the 2nd when our player won the ball! you were then lucky to not go down to ten yourself after your player lashed out in the off the ball incident.
As you say you bring around 15-25 'die hard fans' i did not see this i saw 3 people clap when you scored this shocked me the ground was silent for a team top of the league to bring 3 fans away is unbelievable even ramsgate with worse home crowds and further away bring a good 20/5.
Not here to have a go merely to point out my views with no offence intended also to ask if you do normally get the ball down and play or is it just vrs us you smack it over the top ( purely out of interest)

Hello Wfcfan.
Firstly, I admit I probably have read the attendance figures wrong and apologize for that.
It did come up with the lowest attendance figure next to Worthing, but like you say, it doesn't seem to be working properly.
By the way, I was impressed with the attendance today.
I'm not going to comment on any of your remarks - bar one because I can see this breaking into abit of an argument.
I crossed paths with 17 Faversham fans today and saw three more dotted about.
So, I know for a fact there were around 20 of us (perfectly inside my 15-25 figure).
Admittedly, I didn't see some of the most vocal fans today but there were quite a few of us all in one section of the stand making noise and supporting the team for most of the match.

Worthing 1-2 Faversham Town
Starting line up:
Simon Overland, Aidan Sherlock, Jamie Maxted, Ashley Brown, John Scarborough, Wayne Wilson, George Monger, Dave Botterill, Kieran Oliver, Jack Harris, Dean Grant.
Today was surely all about getting back to winning ways. And the requisite win was duly served up. Worthing aren't a bad side, so this away win took some earning. But earn it we did. In some ways, remarkably similar to the opening game of the season. Worthing take the lead, we equalise and win it with a late winner. With only seconds on the clock Dean Grant is brought down. Wayne Wilson swings in the free-kick, it takes a slight deflection, keeper is beaten, but it comes back off the keepers' left hand post and is cleared. Almost a dream start. But, on 10 minutes we fail to clear our lines, Worthing regain possession, just outside the box and an exquisite chip/lob out of nowhere, over Simon Overland and into the corner of our net. 1-0. If that was a good goal, we respond with an excellent goal of our own on 16. Wayne Wilson feeds Jamie Maxted on the left, a driven cross, quality ball, Dean Grant does well to get in front of his marker and even better to control the header into the net. Great comeback. A long Simon Overland clearance, Dean Grant heads on, Wayne Wilson is through, the shot is over the bar. Another Jamie Maxted driven cross, met by Jack Harris, but Jack's touch sends it over the bar. And then a trio of really good chances. A corner move ends with a Wayne Wilson shot being well saved by the keeper at his right hand post (corner). A Jack Harris strike, similalry dealt with (corner). A Dave Botterill header is cleared off the line. So 1-1 at H-T but we had some decent chances and perhaps should have been in front.
Second half and Worthing start on the front foot. A flowing move down their right, a cross into the box, met by an attacker sliding in. Simon Overland makes a sharp save. At the other end, Dave Botterill's clever ball releases Kieran Oliver into the box, but Kieran's first touch lets him down and the keeper gathers. Soon after, Worthing are reduced to 10 men when their number 4 receives a second yellow. So can we make this count. It starts to get a bit niggly. Their number 11 (I think) and Dave Botterill both get yellows. But back to the footy. On 74, Kieran Oliver makes way for Luke Harvey. We're caught on the break, Worthing counter with pace, but Jamie Maxted gets back to make what I thought was a great saving tackle. The ref saw it otherwise and awards Worthing a free-kick just outside the box. The free-kick is well hit, but Simon Oveland gets a strong fist to it and sends it over the bar. On 85, Will Johnson-Cole is on for George Monger. We go searching for the winner, a Wayne Wilson corner from the right, attaked by Jamie Maxted, tipped over by their keeper. Dean Grant on the left, overhits the cross, Wayne Wilson picks up on the left, crosses into the box, and Jack Harris capitlises on a keeper error and fires home from close range. That's Jack's last contribution as he makes way for Giorgio Russo 1-2 at F-T.
So reasons to be cheerful: a) first double of the season at the first time of asking. Get in. b) back to winning ways. c) still top of the league - and other results went for us d) both strikers on the scoresheet. Always feels right when that happens. Discuss?
