Folkestone Invicta 0 Faversham Town 4
Excellent all round performance starting well and building further throughout the game with our gained extra confidence the goals bring. Very well taken goals, a couple had an element of fortune but I believe that is earned eg. one was a good strike hitting the target from around 35 yards and forcing their goalkeeper into making an error. Great defence not breached despite numerous personal changes during the game. Will Godman again making the necessary stops when called upon - class.
Whole team including used substitutes were a joy to watch even with some of our squad members missing on the day!
As the title suggests, this was the annually competed for Sid Burvill Trophy so it was good to see Ryan Cooper lift the first silverware for 2016/17.
Well done lads.

Quote from a Folkestone Invicta fan forum:
"We need to stay positive but really there was only one side today who looked Premier division ready, and unfortunately it was the visitors"
Several of their fans and even their official website review have mentioned they were without about 5 first team regulars. I don't have the heart to tell them some of our guys were also missing today (Harvey / Robertson / Stanford / Maxted), we picked up two injuries which prompted substitutions and during the game we featured up to 7 of our Under 21's too. The youngsters did well but it was hardly "full strength" and yet still more than good enough on the day!

Sounds like a great win and a great advocate for having an under-21 system.
Ironic that it has taken them until now to notice Dan Carrington - he had already scored against them in the league cup last season.

Unless I'm going mad (quite possible!) Renford Tenyue was also missing yesterday. He's played in several different positions in the pre season fixtures and I've been impressed with his overall performance levels, skill, adaptability, attitude and spirit. Good to see him back with us again.

Just seen a team sheet and, from that, it looks like Ren was absent yesterday.
We were missing:
1) Jamie Maxted (I believe still injured but slowly on the mend).
2) Ashley Brown (I believe with Camp America again).
3) Renford Tenyue (don't know).
4) Charley Robertson (don't know).
5) Josh Stanford (I believe also on holiday).
6) Luke Harvey (I believe also on holiday).
Also no Simon Overland named on the team sheet I saw.
Even though I have not been to a game this season, there appears to be an unbelievable amount of strength in depth.
Fingers crossed we can get over the line this season.
