Here's the match preview - allthingslilywhite.wordpress.com/2014/11/06/faversham-town-hastings-united-match-preview/We have now scored 57 goals from 25 competitive games by my maths this season, crikey! Mind you, Hastings have improved under their new manager and do have one of the better goalkeepers in this league in Josh Pelling. We also know all about Ade Olorunda, who is their main striker and scored twice against us in the play-off final. It will be far from easy, but hopefully,we can keep our amazing goalscoring record going and get another win! See you on Saturday. FAV Army!

57 goals in 25 matches! Back in July at the AGM, Ray Turner seemed despondent and said "I don't know where the goals are going to come from."
Answer: here, there and everywhere!

Welcome lufthansasandwich, good to get another contributor on here and I look forward to some healthy discussions to come.
Yes, it's brilliant that we are the league's top scorers and let's hope it continues. I also think it's important to spread the goals amongst the whole team rather than relying on one or two attackers so that aspect has been pleasing too.
Personally, I don't believe Ray was desponent at the AGM. He knew we had a good, strong squad but was quite rightly concerned about the potential lack in quantity of goals we would get. At that point, he said there were 2 or 3 more players he was hoping to acquire but couldn't say more publicly on who. I can only assume Jack Harris and Josh Stanford were in his thoughts and we can see how many important goals they have both scored plus other assists they have been responsible for too.
At an AGM and generally, Ray has to be wise enough to be "realistically optimistic". He can't say we'll be winning the league because anything else would then be deemed a disappointment yet he has to show a real ambition to continually progress. I think he strikes the right balance and look what a position we have been taken to as a result. I still believe that there is room for improvement too. We seem to win games by having mini purple patches of 15 minutes. It's amazing how many games have been won after conceding the first goal for example.
It's wonderful supporting FTFC and enjoying the rollercoaster of emotions. It's certainly never boring!

Hi 4500x. You say supporting FTFC is '...a rollercoaster of emotions.' Agreed. You say our matches are '...never boring.' Agreed again, though after today I think you could add 'depressing' to that list. Mind you, our fantastic home run had to end sometime and we did it in style on the wrong end of a 1-5 thrashing. Pity though we served this up in front of our best home attendance of the season. No, come to think of it, I'm not depressed at all. Our weaknesses were exposed today, and we can work on that. I'm sure Ray and Clive can put things right. It was a day when far to many shots were blasted over the bar. A day when we seemed vulnerable to the quick break. All credit to Hastings Utd. If they continue playing like that, surely they'll be creeping up the table now, and might even make a play-off spot by the end of the season. But as I say, a great home run of results - plenty of goals and excitement along the way. No, I'm not depressed!

Ok, so not a great day at the office.
But, in Daveisque fashion, here goes....
Reasons to be positive:
1. We are still top of the league (Burgess Hill drew with Whitstable). 2. Marso looked good coming back from injury and Botts made an impact off the bench. 3. Harvey scored again for Woodstock, so will be fitter and full of confidence coming back into the squad. 4. We still managed to score. 5. Its my birthday in less than 2 hours (well, that cheers me up anyway!!)
Fav Army!

Belated birthday wishes Mr Army! Hope you had a good one. And have now recovered!
And further reasons for good cheer: As far as I can work out (so I'm probably wrong) we should stay on top of the league until Wednesday 19th as a minimum. If we pick up 3 points next weekend at Walton C, then we're top for considerably longer. Meanwhile Folkestone & Burgess Hill will be injuring each other & picking up suspensions in their FA Trophy battle on Saturday.
Let's put last Saturday's minor slip up behind us, and enjoy life at the top for a little bit longer!
As the old song goes "We are Top the League! We are Top The League!"
