Saw the result via Twitter. The kind of result that puts some up in your step for a week. Outstanding. My one word. This team has some real bottle.

Faversham Town 3-0 Hastings United
Starting line up:
William Godmon, Ryan Cooper, Jamie Maxted, Matthew Bourne, John Scarborough, Josh Stanford, Daniel Carrington, George Monger, Charley Robertson, Luke Harvey, Dean Grant.
Well, that was pretty conclusive. The 3 points for both teams being extremely important, for pretty much the same reason, would perhaps suggest a tight match in prospect. That suggestion proved to be way off the mark. We controlled and dominated the match from start to finish. No flattery in the scoreline at all. Fully deserved.
First 15, no out and out chances, but we're probing and looking confident. An early substitution as Liam King replaces the injured Luke Harvey. On 18, Liam King is fouled, free-kick, fairly central. Charley Robertson's free-kick, into the area with some curl on it, John Scarborough's header is directed downwards, passed the keeper's dive and into the right hand corner. Great header. 1st decent chance, 1-0 up. Lovely. On 28, Charley Robertson plays the ball out right to Liam King, finds Daniel Carrington who gets into the area, driven wide but keeps control, still in the area, right byline, pulls a ball back towards goal and Josh Stanford nips/leaps in and beats the keeper at his left hand post. 2nd decent chance, 2-0 up. Very nice. On 39, a hint of a Hastings chance, their 7 steals the ball, has a shot from outside the box, but flies safely passed the right hand post. Soon after, another Charley Roberstson free-kick. I didn't mention, it was windy, very windy. Charley seems to be aiming for the Shepherd Neame advertising boarding out on our right touchline. Free-kick struck and boomerangs back on the wind, into the area one bounce, passed the beaten keeper and just wide. For a moment we thought we had a third. Damned close. And as the clock winds down for the half, Charley Robertson and Ryan Cooper link up down the right, Ryan gets to the byline, low pull back into the feet of Dean Grant who's got into the area, but the touch sends it wide of the left hand post. 2-0 at H-T.
So, half time thoughts from the collective wisdom: a) we're totally in control and a really fine first half performance b) a third goal and it's game over (does that count as wisdom-probably not).
First minute and a George Monger free-kick from the right, just dipping below the cross-bar, tipped over. Corner. George's corner is punched away by the keeper, not much distance, but Hastings bring it away, only to be robbed in midfield by George Monger, brings it forward, finds Liam King to his right, Liam is driven wide, but still around the area, makes space for the shot, it's across the keeper and going wide, but is met at the far post by Dean Grant who fires home. 3-0 and game over. And from thereon in, we're comfortable. Dean Grant, on a yellow and having been spoken to by the referee makes way for Kieron Campbell and with 15 to go Ashley Brown is on for Jamie Maxted. One more decent chance, after neat build up play, Kieron Campbell gets a shot away from just outside of the area, that brings a decent save from their keeper diving to his left. Corner. And on the final knockings Hastings get a shot on target, their 3 brings a smart same from our keeper diving low to his right. Corner. 3-0 at F-T. Reasons to be cheerful:
a) a really top drawer performance. Organised, worked hard and didn't give Hastings a sniff. Not to mention 3 very decent goals. b) 3-0 in such a pivotal match. c) another big crowd (337) and all in all, an extremely satisfying afternoon.
Didn't hear the Sponsor's MOM again. Must do better. But whoever got it, a real team performance today. Top stuff.
See you at Sittingbourne on Monday. Weather permitting. COYW.
