Looking forward to Saturday so very much. After last Sunday's heroic performance on a foreign field that will be forever Faversham, we return to Salters Lane to face runaway league leaders Folkestone Invicta. Unbeaten all year. In top top form. Not much on offer there then? Oh yes there is. Not only the prospect of consolidating our rightful place in the playoff spots. But also the chance to do the treble over Invicta. The treble. Here's what they are saying: www.folkestoneinvictafc.co.uk/news/1097And on their forum they are looking forward to coming in numbers (not least to sample the fine wares that the clubhouse and the town's pubs have to offer). So let's give them a fine Faversham welcome. A big crowd brings big money. And if all things go as they should, they'll wake up Sunday morning with a smile and a sore head - and only then notice that we've nicked the three points off them! COME ON YOU WHITES!

Well that was a cracking performance. And a highly impressive point secured against the champions elect. A point that could easily have been three. Against the champions elect.
Nice to have some Oysterboys alongside for the ride - we'll see you next week!
And to secure 4 points and a cup win against - do I need to repeat, the champions elect, is a fine fine record.
Croaky voice about to receive some much needed lubrication courtesy of the Elephant where the Folkestone travelling crew have taken residence.... Paracetemol at the ready. Over and out.
COME ON YOU WHITES!!!

Faversham Town 2-2 Folkestone Invicta
Starting line up:
William Godmon, Ryan Cooper, Ashley Brown, Matthew Bourne, John Scarborough, Renford Tenyue, Daniel Carrington, George Monger, Charley Robertson, Luke Harvey, Liam King.
A performance from the top drawer today. Fully deserved the point, but the performance warranted the three. But Folkestone did what champions do and claimed a point.
Early exchanges, fairly even. But we carve out some decent chances. Liam King from the right, edge of the box brings a sharp save from their keeper at his left hand post. Corner. A George Monger free-kick, again from the right, 22 yards, hit low and hard, strikes the foot of the post and rebounds to safety. Ryan Cooper gets forward, down the right, dangerous low cross, right across the face of the goal, just evading the stretching Liam King. And just when it felt as if we were getting on top, we concede the most bizarre of goals. Folkestone in possession, wide left, no apparent danger. A cross into the box, an attacker has gotten free and into the box, gets a slight touch on it (I think) and the ball finds the net. It was all a bit weird, surprising. A goal from nothing. 0-1. Folkestone are straight back at us, down their right, a cross finds a Folkestone head at the back stick, goal surely, we're expecting the net to bulge. But no, incredibly it's headed wide. A real let off. We make Folkestone pay for their profligacy in front of goal. Charley Robertson's cross from the right to the back post is met by Renford Tenyue's header. Not too much on the header, but it's beaten the keeper. It seems to take an age, has it got the legs? Yes, in she goes. How many headed goals has Renford got now? Fantastic. So 1-1 on 30. Five minutes later we're undone by a moment of quality. The ball is played up just outside our area, central, control and quick feet, and a dipping effort arrows over our keeper and into the net. Hold your hands up time. Good goal-dammit. 1-2. But three minutes later, we're back on equal terms. A Liam King corner from the right, well, goes straight in. An assist for Luke Harvey though. 2-2 at H-T.
A really fine second half performance. A Liam King cross from the left, Matthew Bourne leaps highest at the far post, a looping header back across goal, headed off the line. Charley Robertson finds Ryan Coopers run, the cross, across the keeper, across the goal, but no finishing touch. We have a period of sustained pressure. Luke Harvey drives forward, gets a shot away blocked, Charley Roberston picks up, plays a defense splitting pass into Ryan Coopers run, the cross is met by Liam Kings header. Their keeper makes a great save. We break quickly, Liam King finds Charley Robertson, advances towards the area and curls a shot just wide of the right hand post. And then Folkestone's best/only chance of the half. Attacking down their left, to the byline and a cross, an effort goalwards, saved onto the bar. It's still frantic in there, another block and finally away. At the other end, in the box, Liam King swivels, turns and shoots. Shades of Guernsey perhaps? Not this time, their keeper saves well diving to his left. With 10 to go, Jamie Maxted is on for Renford Tenyue. Final chance and Jamie Maxted is teed up, just inside the area, decent strike, we think it's going in, but just wide of the left hand post. 2-2 at F-T.
So, would we have taken the point before the match? Probably. Any point against Folkestone has to be considered a good point. But that was some performance today. We have more than matched them. Top stuff.
Reasons to be cheerful:
a) a thoroughly entertaining match played out at Salters Lane today between two good teams. A fine advert for football at this level. b) a bumper 400+ crowd. And a great atmosphere to boot. c) additional support and singing lessons from the OysterBoys. Not an opportunity to be passed up. They did us proud. We'll see you next week.... d) My voice is again knackered. Most definitely worth it though. I feel beer is the remedy.
Sponsor's MOM: Sorry didn't hear the announcement. But it must have been extremely difficult. Every man jack played a part. A massive team effort. But the rules (well, my rules) say I must elect in such circumstances. For me today, John Scarborough. Immense out there today.
FTFC - the best club. COYW.
See you next week at The Belmont. Not to be missed.
