Can do better!
Now we've reached the 23 game mark, the table is starting to take shape and recent wins have pushed us into the top 5. So, I thought it's a good time to predict end of season league positions in R1S.
There is a distinct top 14 and bottom 10. Don't think that's going to change much and certainly can't see anyone from 15th downwards troubling the play-offs positions this year.
Incidently, we've now played 19 games against top 14 clubs with an average points per game of 1.63 and just 4 with the bottom 10 gaining a 2.25 average. Not easy playing the strugglers who will be fighting for survival but I do believe we'll keep those two averages going and I've factored that in.
Whyteleafe, Corithian C, South Park, Three bridges and Guernsey are all good and could climb but I can't see them being consistent enough. Herne bay have games in hand and should climb but only into top 10.
That leaves 8 others, Molesey have relied on home form (recently shattered lol) and away results let them down, Ramsgate and Carshalton will be contenders but I think will fall just short.
That leaves my top 5 as follows:
1 Folkestone Not runaways this year but won't drop enough points to allow anyone else to overtake.
2 Worthing Plenty of goals will keep the three points coming and keep F/stone "honest" til near end of season.
3 Faversham 2nd half of season producing 14 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats to achieve 87 points (40/47 split forecast - why not?)
4 Dorking Strong and full of goals
5 Hastings Catch up of games may make them drop points but they'll just have enough to sC**pe into top 5
Worth noting Faversham have beaten all the other four within the top five, three of those away too so nothing to be frightened of in the unpredictable play offs.
So, what do you all think? Feel free to argue and I'd be happy to see some different points of view. Sign up and post your thoughts? Where will we end up? Who are the challengers to stop us progressing?
