Another big match at Salters Lane!
We should come into the game with plenty of confidence after our wins over Whyteleafe and Hastings.
But Worthing will arguably be the toughest of three opponents in the last week that, probably have been, as hard as anyone else we will face in the league this season!
Let's hope for another three points.
See you tomorrow.

But the bad news is that, after a two match absence, both of which have been brilliant victories, I'll be back on the halway line with the banner and a voicebox full of shouts. Here's hoping that I can put to bed that oh so unfair accusation of being "a jinx who should be barred from all future games..."
Come On You Whites!!

Faversham Town 0-0 Worthing
Starting line up:
William Godmon, Ryan Cooper, John Scarborough, Matthew Bourne, Jamie Maxted, George Monger, Daniel Carrington, David Botterill, Josh Stanford, Liam King, Stuart King. Games against Worthing always seem to be tight, hard-fought affairs. Invariably, not much between the teams in the final scoreline. So today, the trend continued. I thought we shaded it. We carved out the better chances. But most definitley a tight affair, in which either team could have nicked a result. So on balance a draw is probably a fair result.
Bright start from us. Josh Stanford wins possession plays in George Monger, left hand corner of the box, curls a low shot across the goal that narrowly goes passed the right hand post. Close. Keeper seemed to misjudge it. Corner from the left. George Monger takes, deep to the back post. Matthew Bourne nods it just passed the post. We lose possession in midfield, Worthing attack down their right, ball into the box and it's a bit untidy in there. A goal bound strike and Ryan Cooper clears off the line. That's two goal line clearances in two games from the captain. Nice habit to get into. Stuart King is released down the right by Josh Stanford, the compliment is returned, Josh's low shot from the edge of the area brings a smart save from the Worthing keeper low to his left. Corner. Ryan Cooper's long throw from the right is met by David Botterill's backward header, the ball bounces just wide of the left hand post.
0-0 at H-T.
Early Worthing chance. Worthing make progress down the right, ball inside into a runner, just inside the box. The strike is blazed over the bar. A let off. Josh Stanford, our right, finds David Botterill in space, tees up a shot, keeper comfortably gathers low at his left hand post. A long clearance from our keeper is controlled by Josh Stanford, brings it forward, delivers a through ball that finds Liam King, the snap shot is well saved by the keeper diving to his left. Corner. A Worthing corner from the right, ther 10 fouls Matthew Bourne and then heads home. Not the subtlest of transgressions. Goal rightly disallowed and a yellow for their 10. A long clearance from William Godmon finds Stuart King, flicks on for Josh Stanford, Josh drives forward and unleashes a firm strike. Keeper diving to his right is equal to it. We counter quickly after a Worthing attack, Jamie Maxted's cross fields ball finds Stuart King, Stuart cuts inside his man and shoots. The ball smashes against the crossbar and goes over. Keeper beaten. That felt like the moment we could have won this-a few inches lower and we win the game-fine margins. One final chance, Jamie Maxted drives forward, our left, gets fouled, but still releases Liam King, Liam brings it forward, delivers a low cross into the box, Daniel Carrington meets, but the keeper saves with his legs. Good chance. With 12 to go. Dean Grant is on for Liam King and William Johnson-Cole is a late substitute for David Botterill (5 to go).
0-0 at F-T.
So, having reminded myself of the above, I find myself somewhat disagreeing with my pre-report self. I think we've more than just shaded this. We've certainly offered the most offensively. That said however, this was a tough game, in difficult conditions, against a Worthing team that seem to have added more steel to their game since previous encounters. So I'm sticking with a draw is probably a fair result. But wavering on that one!! A decent point.
Reasons to be cheerful:
a) I haven't had chance to mention the Hastings game yet. Still buzzing over that. Fantastic. b) unbeaten in 4. c) a decent point today. One of those days when you have to battle hard to earn something. And that we did. d) a clean sheet - very important today
Sponsors' MOM: Stuart King.

Yes, deserved at least the point against a team in third place and it could have been more.
Now we're well into the season and I can start pulling out the stats (sorry!). Think this one is worth mentioning:
17 of our 20 league matches so far have been against teams currently in the top 14 and we've averaged 1.47 points in those games. We've only played 3 games against teams in the bottom 10 including two wins.
Ok, some teams have games in hand on us but 17 our of remaining 26 matches will be against teams currently in the bottom 10. Of course, not always easy fixtures but surely gives us the opportunity to pick up our average points per game and move from 7th into the top 5 during the coming months.

Good report again Dave.
I think we shaded a close match and had the better chances, certainly in the second half (with their goal for a foul correctly ruled out and not much to complain about other than that for them). Otherwise, their keeper was definitely the busier of the two.
Interestingly, having read the Worthing Forum, they seem to disagree with you for some reason.
Anyway, I certainly think a draw was a fair result - like you say!
We shaded an even game but, at the same time, all they needed to do was pinch an away goal on the counter, to seal a perfect away performance.
Anyway, on to Tuesday.
A good squad expected to play and hopefully a good result to go with it!
Fav Army!

Interesting comments from 4500x about the teams we have played so far this season.
There have been a lot of return fixtures already this autumn, I think this gives the league table a lopsided look and it won't really take shape for another month or two. There are some teams currently in the play-off positions who will drop like a stone when they start to play fixtures against the tougher teams.
