Interesting game tomorrow. Would have expected Carshalton to be a lot higher than mid-table at this stage in the season! Hopefully, with some key players given a well-earned rest on Tuesday night, we can show why we are doing so well so far this season. On a side note, with the rain crashing against the window, according to BBC Weather, it doesn't start raining in Carshalton until tomorrow afternoon I think this time tomorrow we will be able to tell if that was true or not, based on how the pitch holds up I'm going for a 2-0 Faversham win tomorrow (Stanford 32 and Botterill 86). FAV Army!!!

2-1 Faversham. Matt Bourne head from a Wilson freekick on the by-line to draw things level; Luke Harvey winner from 12 yards following a storming break by Ren In added time, a remarkable salmon-like save from Simon earns us the three points.
My name is Mystic Mark. Goodnight!

Carshalton Athletic 1-2 Faversham Town
Starting line up:
Simon Overland, Aidan Sherlock, Matt Bourne, John Scarborough, Jamie Maxted, Sam Bewick, Wayne Wilson, Dave Botterill, Josh Stanford, Dean Grant, Kieran Oliver.
So, game six away in our run of nine away games in ten fixtures. A tough run of fixtures in anyone's book. And today, job done. An excellent 3 points. We're indebted to a great early save from Simon Overland, diving to his right at the edge of his area for preventing us going behind early doors. Top drawer stuff. And for the next half hour, we're in control. On 14 minutes a long ball out of the Carshalton defence is chested down by Aidan Sherlock and returned with significant interest. A 60/70 yard ball bisects the two central defenders, onto the run of Dean Grant, Dean holds off the attention of said defenders, runs in on goal, cool as you like, slips it past the keeper's right hand side and into the side netting. Luvverrly goal. Soon after, Carshalton are through, a defensive slip and in on goal, Simon comes out and makes a great save. Strong left handed save to deny the Robins. On 22, we double our lead. Good persistence from Kieran Oliver, wins possession, out wide right to Josh Stanford, low centre into the area, and Dean Grant's run does full justice to the move and strokes the ball into the net. Fine move, fine finish. A Wayne Wilson free-kick from our left, headed on by John Scaborough, comes out to Dave Botterill, in the six yard box, rifled home, but the lino's flag is up. A Wayne Wilson corner from the right, headed just wide by Jamie Maxted. So, 0-2 at H-T and a well deserved lead.
Second half. A Dave Botterill curling ball, finds Dean Grant in space down our left, good centre into the box, Sam Bewick gets in, but drags it just wide. On 67 Renford Tenyue is on for Kieran Oliver. On 75, Josh Stanford is released on the left, great cross in, but Sam Bewick's strike is wide. A towering Matt Bourne header in the centre of the park starts a move, which Wayne Wilson finishes, but the lino calls offside. And then Dean Grant is played in, in the box, on a hat-trick, brought down. No penalty says the ref. Looked a foul from where I was, but admittedly I was some distance away. No, sod it, it was a pen. And then to rub salt into the wounds, in our penalty area, Aidan Sherlock makes a fine tackle, wins the ball, a clean win, the Carshalton player falls over and the ref awards a pen. This I did have a clear view of. I despair, how the ref thinks that's a pen, I will never know. Anyway, justice is done when the penalty hits the right hand post. But soon after, Carshalton ensure we'll have a nervy finish when a fine strike from the edge of the box, creeps into Simon's right hand post. And we thought it got worse, when another strike from outside the box hits the outside side netting. Just for a minute we thought it was in. George Monger and Dan King are late substitutes for Dean Grant and Josh Stanford. We see the game out with no more alarms. 1-2 at F-T.
So, of course, reasons to be cheerful: a) I rate this win. We've played better than this, but in the midst of a really demanding set of away fixtures, we still get a result. b) just had a look at the R1S table, not only are we third, but FTFC are by my reckoning top of the goals/game league-if there was such a thing. c) only another 3 away games until we get back home. d) looking forward to CJK's video. CJK, don't forget to edit those 2 penalty decisions favorably.

Thanks CJK - you're most anticipated video to date.
Hmmm, well then, here's my take on the three key controversial incidents:
1. Willo offside - Incredibly tight, a lot tighter than I thought it was. Maybe, Willo has strayed a couple of inches offside, which is funny now we ended up winning anyway because the keeper's save knocks the ball behind them. If Willo had of been 2 yards further back 1) The tap-in would have been a lot easier. 2) He would have been onside. Even if it is the correct decision, still slightly unlucky because it is so very, very tight.
2. Grant penalty - Well, my view hasn't changed from when I saw it in live play. Penalty all day long! Why would Dean want to go down when he is on a hat-trick and clean through on goal? Clearly, has his legs taken from underneath him!
3. Penalty given against Sherlock - Again, view hasn't changed from live play. I said "good tackle" when he made the tackle and I stand by that. The Carshalton player has just gone down looking for something and hit the jackpot!
Will be interesting to see how everyone else views - feel free to completely disagree with me and change my mind!
All that said, how good does it feel to have two debatable decisions go against us and still end up victorious.
FAV Army!

Following up on Dave's comment about the current away fixtures onslaught, the next home game was still in doubt until today. We will be able to play Redhill at home on the 25th after they were knocked out of the FA cup at third qualifying round stage this afternoon. Congratulations to Greenwich Boro from the Southern Counties East league who now progress to the last qualifying round before league teams join for first round proper. I wonder who they'll get in tomorrow's draw which will also now include conference premier teams.
On a further point, I notice our reward for beating Sittingbourne in the league cup was yet another away fixture, this time at Margate on 18th November!

Well, I'm with Fav Army on this.
After viewing this, still sticking with my view from yesterday.
Dean Grant was brought down in the area. Penalty. Clumsy challenge in the area. Excellent defensive challenge by Aidan Sherlock. Poor decision by the official. Particularly poor given the proximity to the previous decision. But it's inconsistency that consistently counts it would appear. Re the Willo offside, great move, couldn't comment on offside from where I was.
But the important thing is we've overcome these decisions and gone on to register a decent away win.
So that's 2-0 so far to the we've been done brigade. A decent lead. COYW.
