First things first, welcome to the new Faversham Town Football Club Forum! As some of you may be aware, the link to the old Forum had stopped working and didn't look like it was going to be coming back anytime sure. We'll give this Forum a try, and hopefully, it all works ok (fingers crossed!!!) The only downside to this Forum is there will be a few pop-up adverts, so you have been warned - my advice would be just to ignore them or close them down. However, on the upside some further updates maybe added in the future if this works ok We'll kick-off the football discussion with Saturday's game against Maidenhead shall we? It will be a tough game against a side a few leagues above ourselves. But, they aren't playing brilliantly at the moment and it's a good chance for us to pull off a cup upset. Of course, there is the small matter of £4,500 and a place in the Third Qualifying Round at stake.

Well done and good to have the forum back. It has been sadly missed.
As for Saturday I feel that it's about time we had a long cup run.

Second that great to have a forum again. Looking forward to Maidenhead and I do think we have a reasonable chance of causing an upset. Not sure I will stick my neck out and make a prediction just keeping everything crossed and going to enjoy the day. Any updates on the injury front?

Here is the piece from the Kent Online ahead of Saturday - www.kentonline.co.uk/faversham/sport/turner-taking-low-key-approach-to-24022/With regards to other injuries, I think it can be difficult to tell just 24 hours after the last game. But, hoping Botts injury isn't serious - very close between him and Bourne for most consistent performer. Good news is this seems like the match most our injured players have hoped to have been back in time for, judging by the article.

Things just have taken an unexpected turn.
Maidenhead have signed former Birmingham and Blackburn Rovers striker DJ Campbell (yes, the man who made his name in the FA Cup)!
He goes straight into their squad for Saturday.

Thanks for setting up this new forum - I've missed all the regular contributors and hope more will join in with their thoughts.
Looking forward to the Maidenhead game whatever the ultimate result. It's a sign of how we've progressed in recent years that we can aspire to even thinking about the 3rd Qualifying round and pulling off a win or draw against a conference south club.
With my username the prize money seems apt too !!
Good luck to all here and on the pitch.

Hello guys. It's good to be back. This time with a slightly more descriptive username. But the same old optimism. So here goes for a big upset tomorrow. And whoddathought that it would be DJ Campbell putting it into his own net for our winner!? See you on the coach! It'll be massive! And in case you'd forgotten... COME ON YOU WHITES!!!

Thanks for setting this up FAV army. Had a dream last night. We went 1-0 up during first half. Unfortunately, I woke up before half time whistle so don't know how things went. 'Roar 'em on!' CPM

Well Carparkman, suffice to say, your dream did not come true.
The scoreline doesn't show it but it actually was very even for the first 70 mnutes.
They got a really lucky penalty midway through the first half - I still don't know what Sherlock could have done if the winger was just going to fall to ground anyway!
Then, with 20 minutes left, a certain DJ Campbell popped up with a debut goal - albeit a very lucky one.
Had we taken the lead/ equalised during this time, who knows what would have happened (and Maidnehead can't have had too many complaints either!)
But when Campbell's shot deflected off Bourne and looped over Overland with 20 minutes left, that killed our hopes of a comeback.
After that, they looked comfortable and do clearly have some decent forwards (although, were abit flappy in defence).
The third and fourth added some gloss for them.
A word on Maxted as well, who came off the plane from his holiday at about 8am this morning and put in an 85 minute shift (In my opinion, he might just have been our best player too!)
Very important game against East Grinstead on Tuesday now.
If we lose that, all of a sudden, four matches without a win and only draw does begin to stake up.
FAV Army!

Think that is a bit harsh the first goal was offside even there people said so. It is the beginning of the season how can you say it is staking up against us if we do not win on Tuesday

I couldn't see that from my point of view - yet another reason we were unlucky with the first goal.
I'm not saying that if we lose against East Grinstead, we are in for a tough season.
Far from, we look more than capable in staying towards the top of the table all season long.
I'm simply saying if we lose on Tuesday. All of a sudden the pressure begins to stack ahead of next Saturday when we face a good Corinthian-Casuals side currently second in the table ahead of us.

I thought we gave a good account of ourselves yesterday. Maidenhead commented that result did not reflect the game

Just to add my tuppence worth.
In essence, I'm just adding to what Fav Army has already posted. But
there's nowt wrong with a bit of repetition.
First goal. Really soft penalty. Maidenhead demonstrated their ability to go down easy.
The officials demonstrated their ability to think that is acceptable. I'm in full
agreement with football fan-the build up prior to the penalty was offside. So we've
been done on two counts.
Second goal. Just bad luck. We'd kept it at 1-0, 70 minutes and we're still in the
game. DJ Campbell shoots, blocked, deflected, one of those where it loops agonisingly over the
keeper. No one at fault-just a huge piece of l**k for Maidenhead to add to their
dubious penalty award.
The 3rd and 4th. We'e still trying to get something, it's a cup game, you would,
and they add the gloss that Fav Army speaks of.
So personal opinion alert:
a) 4-0 flatters Maidenhead. A very dubious penalty (including the offside that lead to it)
and a fluke goal have set them on their way.
b) so is this post a bit negative? Going on about luck and bad decisions by the officials?
Maybe. But to echo the female boss, we've given a damn good account of ourselves. On
another day-maybe.
c) Bring on the FA Trophy.
See you at East Grinstead on Tuesday. Big game. COYW.

Just back home from taking in Mainz v Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, and have found the change. I also follow Eastbourne Boro and the fans' forum is also on Proboards - seems to run OK for them, (and hope you are reassured)
