Well, one out of two ain't bad.
A 1-0 win for Folkestone temporarily gives them the positional advantage (but only for 22 hours or so!) And a 0-2 home defeat for Merstham by Ramsgate - well that just made me smile!
Onwards to Saturday afternoon at a very shouty Salters Lane.
COME ON YOU WHITES!

Faversham Town 1-0 Tooting & Mitcham
Starting line up:
Rob French, Jack Sullivan, Jamie Maxted, Ashley Brown, John Scarborough, Charley Robertson, Dave Botterill, Wayne Wilson, George Monger, Dean Grant, Stuart King.
I think we deserved the victory. We had the greater number of chances. But one of those 1-0s that we had to work hard for. By no means a straight forward victory.
To the detail:
A double-take as our kick-off tactic is changed. And it almost reaps immediate dividends. We win a corner on the left, Wayne Wilson delivers, John Scarborough wins the header, but it hits the topside of the bar and goes over. We continue our bright start. Dave Botterill and Jamie Maxted, a neat one-two and Jamie Maxted is away, travels and fashions a shooting opportunity just outside of the box, but the low shot beats the left hand post. a Wayne Wilson corner from the left, Stuart King at the back post gets a shot on target, keeper makes a last-ditch save on the line. 3 decent chances in the early stages. We look to have goals in us today. But then we seem to lose a bit of intensity and the chances dry up somewhat. One more decent chance in the half, Charley Robertson finds Dean Grant out left, low driven cross, a Stuart King shot, seems to ricochet until the keeper eventually gathers. I'm not sure how much the keeper knew about it. 0-0 at H-T.
Early second half substitution. Matt Bourne is on for Jack Sullivan (injured ?). Some early chances. Stuart King delivers a fine cross from the left, Dean Grant's downward header brings the best out of the T&M keeper who makes a fine low save. Had goal written all over it. Great save. Ashley Brown's low driven cross from the right, a connection is made (missed by whom), again the save. But it's still 0-0. And when we concede a free-kick just outside the box, sharp intakes of breath, you know the feeling. The subsequent free-kick flies harmlessly over. Release of held breath. So, 77 minutes, and still 0-0. Maybe just a few anxious looks at watches. Wayne Wilson collects, I don't know, 25 yards out, fires in a low shot, strikes the inside of the left hand post and ricochets very satisfactorily into the right hand bottom corner. Midfield goal machine or what. A vital goal. T&M respond with a fierce long range effort. Rob French makes a decent low save to his right. Corner. With 10 to go Jack Harris is on for Stuart King. A last forage by T&M, a ball played into our box, Rob French rightly calls it's his, but we elect to clear, however we don't get distance and T&M come straight back at us. we concede a free-kick right on the edge of the box. The wall does it's job. So 1-0 at F-T.
A hard-earned 1-0 and yes, deserved. The 5-0s against Carshalton are fantastic, but sometimes you have to dig deep and get a 1-0. Find a way to win a game. Particularly at this business end of the season. Once again, job done.
So, to finish, reasons to be cheerful:
a) another clean sheet - 3 on the bounce b) back to second in R1S - and still in control of said 2nd place c) more footy to look forward to on Monday. d) and to finish. Big, big win today. Our team found a way. Big result.

and another stat to note ..... 90 league points in a season now becomes our largest tally in our history at any level!
Our previous best being 88 when we won the Kent league in 1989/90 season albeit with fewer games played.
Another milestone passed - well done all.
