Cometh the hour. Cometh the men!
Yes, this is the one we've all been waiting for. The top two clubs in Ryman South. Head to Head. On a sunny Saturday afternoon. In front of a big, vocal crowd.
We know that the league title isn't going to be decided today. But this is as close as either of us will get this season to a taste of how the Ryman Premier league might feel next year. Burgess Hill are without doubt the most consistently strong team in this league. But pit that against what is without doubt the team with the greatest scoring record in the league.
And we come into today's game, not just off the back of 9 (yes nine) goals in our last two games, but also knowing that we have three key players back in the mix for team selection.
Tuesday night we struck up the century of goals for the season. And then some. Today we can stay on track to join Burgess Hill on a century of points for the season.
I'm really looking forward to some class play. At a level a jump above the rest of the division. With a big away following. A bigger home following.
MASSIVE!
BE THERE!
COME ON YOU WHITES!!

Faversham Town 0-0 Burgess Hill Town
Starting line up:
Rob French, Jack Sullivan, Jamie Maxted, Ashley Brown, John Scarborough, Charley Robertson, Dave Botterill, Wayne Wilson, Josh Stanford, Jack Harris, Stuart King.
Well, the easy option is to say this was a fair result. And there is indeed a strong case to be made for that. Defensively, Burgess Hill were extremely organised and difficult to break down. Defensively, Faversham Town were extremely organised and difficult to break down. You get the point. But, offensively I thought we had the upper hand. We looked as they say "the more likely". But on this occasion "the more likely" wasn't quite enough.
So, other relevant information: must mention the conditions, a strong wind, extremely difficult for both sides. I'd love to have seen this game played in more favorable conditions, but c'est la vie.
So onwards:
With less than 10 minutes gone, Charley Robertson drives into their area, brought down just inside.Penalty. Wayne Wilson steps up, it's well struck, but hits the left hand post and out for a throw-in. Soon after, we survive a penalty appeal ourselves, but the ref books the BH man for simulation (or diving as we all know it). A Charley Robertson run is brought to an abrupt end, free-kick. Wayne Wilson, 25 yards out, central, but easy for the keeper. 0-0 at H-T
With 10 minutes of the second half gone, Dean Grant is on for Jack Harris. Wayne Wilson wins a ball in midfield, to Stuart King out right, Stuart beats his men, into the area, fires across the keeper, keepers beaten, but just wide of the post. Close. One more chance, Stuart King, outside of the area, evades the tackles, attempted lob/strike, just over. It would have been a fine goal.
But it remains 0-0.
I'm conscious the report is much shorter this week. Why? I suppose the nature of todays game. A tough game.
So reasons to be cheerful:
a) A fully deserved point. Actually, I thought we were "the more likely". b) I get to win the golden goal. Or golden no goals. Much to the chagrin of many. You know who you are!! c) To repeat. I still think we were the most likely.

Another very fair and accurate report IMO, Dave.
I think it is worth pointing out the test today was how we compared against (soon to be) Ryman Premier League opposition.
The answer: very well!
To be honest, as I said at the match afterwards, the test wasn't are we good enough offensively to get promoted - we have been there, banged in 100+ goals, got the t-shirt etc.
The test was defensively and we came through it.
Very proud again of the boys today, and to be honest, I'm gutted I'm missing a few forthcoming games - there is no way I'm missing the Play-offs though!
I will next see you all on Bank Holiday Monday at Sittingbourne.
FAV Army!
