Back to business after last week's blip and time to build on our second-half performance!
Last Saturday’s second-half showing may have been good but we tend to struggle after the restart against Walton & Hersham, one of our bogey sides.
In fact, in the recent past, we rarely have been good in the second period in Walton, full stop (against Walton & Hersham or W Casuals)!
Allow me to explain:
November 2014 - Walton Casuals 3-3 Faversham Town: half-time score = 0-2 Faversham.
October 2013 - Walton & Hersham 2-2 Faversham Town: half-time score = 0-2 Faversham.
August 2013 - Walton Casuals 5-3 Faversham Town: half-time score = 2-2.
So, what does this show:
1) Yes. We do tend to struggle in the second-half in Walton for whatever reason!
2) With Folkestone moving ahead of us into second-place, we can't afford to lose the second-half in that manner this time around - if we do, we will drop crucial points.
3) If the scoreline is 0-2 Faversham at half-time, be afraid. Be very afraid.
4) Lastly, and I can't stress this enough, this 100% is proof I have too much time on my hands!
Let's hope tomorrow is more like our 5-0 win over Walton & Hersham this season, than any of the above games.
See you tomorrow.
FAV Army!

Four Goals. Three Points. Two Points dropped by Folkestone. One guaranteed play-off place in the bag!
And a nice bit of punk music over the tannoy to start and finish the match too.
Not a bad afternoon when all's said and done!

Walton & Hersham 1-4 Faversham Town
Starting line up:
Rob French, Chris Webber, Jamie Maxted, Ashley Brown, John Scarborough, Charley Robertson, Dave Botterill, Wayne Wilson, Josh Stanford, Jack Harris, Stuart King.
W&H, one of our alleged bogey teams. So, is this borne out by the facts. Leafing through the programme for today's game. Two draws last season. They did the double over us in 2012/13. The spoils were shared in 2011/12. So, yes, a potentially difficult game, coming off the back off, well, a difficult game.
But, in what is a fantastic season, normal service was resumed. 1-4. Emphatic scoreline.
But a slowish start from us. First 10 minutes and W&H enjoyed a large chunk of possession, albeit with no alarms from our perspective. But we start to grow into the game. And chances start to come. From just in front of the centre circle, Charley Robertson loops a fine ball into the run of Stuart King, just a tad too much on it, Keeper collects. Josh Stanford steals possession in midfield, travels, shoots from just outside of the box. Just wide of the left hand post. W&H come forward, and a speculative hooked shot from just oustide of the box is comfortably gathered high to his left by Rob French. But we look like we're going to score Dave Botterill on the right, cross into the area, Jack Harris meets, but the connection sends it over. And then, on 34 minutes, a fine move. Wayne Wilson finds Jack Harris out on the left, a cross field ball to Josh Stanford on the right, Josh travels, a sumptious cross, and Wayne Wilson finishes what he started. A fantatic half-volley. Technique, power, goal. The net bulges. Huzzah. 0-1 at H-T.
And the perfect start to the second half. Jack Harris makes a nuisance of himself out on the right, passes inside to Charley Robertson, Charley travels distance, from right to left, and then releases a perfectly weighted pass in to the run of Josh Stanford, Josh drives forward and unleashes a shot from just inside the box, The keeper's dive is beaten and the ball nestles inside the left hand post. Luvverrly. 0-2. Four minutes later, it gets better. Jack Harris is played in (I think by Charley Robertson), in the area, a throng of W&H defenders around him, a firmly struck shot and in. Jack is subject to a team mobbing. Fab. 0-3. Dave Botterill finds Josh Stanford, cross into the centre, Jack Harris' header is going in, bit hooked off the line-but offside. With 25 to go, W&H deliver a cross from their left into the box, a backward header, a slight touch, and the ball is in our net. The goal seems to give W&H some belief and they start to push forward-their best period. But, we work hard and resist. And then back on the front foot. A long clearance from Rob French, Stuart King flicks on into the path of Charley Robertson, a low shot, safely gathered by their keeper. Renford Tenyue is on for Stuart King. Dave Botterill in the middle of the park, right to Wayne Wilson, cross field ball to Josh Stanford, Josh beats his man, to the byline, cross to the back stick, Renford slips it passed the keeper. 1-4
So, reasons to be cheerful:
a) to plagiarise ShoutyMark's text. Four goals, three points, two points dropped by Folkestone & one play-of place secured. All round good news. b) the quality of the goals today. Oh, and of course the quantity. c) I think we can remove W&H from our bogey team list. Nett 9-1 this season. d) another great away performance-these are difficult places to get a result and another performance/result delivered.
All in all-a fab day.
All round top team performance for me today. Push me for a MOM (which you're not), Josh Stanford. Scored a fine goal and caused W&H all sorts of problems.
