Oooh! This could be a cracker! Whyteleafe are riding high, on the lookout for a playoff spot. Meanwhile, we are genuinely on a roll. Back from the Channel Isles with three points safely stuffed in the duty free bag. And looking for three more in our home town. New signings. Huge optimism. Goals on the cards. A sunny Saturday in the "Market Town of Kings" (Dan & Stuart) www.faversham.org/community/faversham-magna-carta.aspx
I predict a 4-1 victory!
Get in!

Faversham Town 2 (Josh and Willo) Whyteleafe 3
Well, in terms of entertainment value, this one didn't disappoint!
Unfortunately, we took too long to get going and paid the price.
To the match:
A low-key start.
We have the only real chances early on - Josh fires over after less than a minute, Jack nicks the ball off their keeper but finds the side-netting, and Josh plays in Jack again.
He is clean through but shoots inches wide - the ref gives a corner, but in reality, it probably wasn't.
We are on top, although, some insecurity in the back and their impressive no.9 scores - a really soft goal to concede.
We do not really respond and it gets worse on 32.
A long ball falls kindly to their no.9, the same result - another soft goal!
Half-time and Botts is on for Scarbs.
A tactical change but nothing has really changed in the context of the match - they break down the left, 3-0.
Is it over - not quite yet.
We are really going for it and S.Kingy is on for Monger on 65.
Kingy almost gets a debut goal, their keeper makes a good save, but we finally score from the corner.
Willo's corner isn't cleared and Josh, who I thought was very good particularly defensively as we pushed forward, drills home!
We throw the kitchen sink at them - godness knows what the formation was but why not?
I think I made it 2-5-3 towards the end!
On 78, we are cooking now and showing some fight and desire!
J is fouled in the box, penalty.
And... there is only one outcome - 2-3!
Willo is doing alright in terms of goals for a midfielder, isn't he?
We push for the equaliser but It won't quite come - a shame we couldn't create one more really opportunity.
Let's just say their goalkeeper was less than convincing!
Must admit I was impressed with their fans - very vocal.
A disappointing result, but from 3-0 down, a good response.
We didn't particularly deserve anything but showed our constant threat going forward.
We need to pick up where we left off against Walton & Hersham.
I will see you there.
Boy, did we miss Bourney, though?
Fav Army!

Faversham Town 2-3 Whyteleafe
Starting line up:
Rob French, Aidan Sherlock, Jamie Maxted, Ashley Brown, John Scarborough, Charley Robertson, George Monger, Wayne Wilson, Josh Stanford, Jack Harris, Dean Grant.
I'll never understand football and football teams. Maybe that's why we all love it. A fantastic result and performance last week-both halves. First half today, it really pains me to say it, but we weren't at the races. Second half, a different story. Explain that one to me.
Having said that, we had a couple of decent early chances. Their keeper is indecisive, Jack Harris seizes the initiative, but drives his shot into the right hand side netting. Good pressure from George Monger, forces Whyteleafe back to their own area, more pressure and Wayne Wilson wins possession in midfield, plays in Jack Harris, in on goal, beats the keeper, but just wide of the right hand post. So not a bad start. And than we concede in calamitous circumstances. Two poor headers, we're going backwards, a mix up between defense and keeper, open goal and a tap in for their no. 9. The softest of goals. No, softer than that. Minutes later,we concede a corner down our left, we clear the original threat, but Whyteleafe come back, a ball into the box, a free man in the box, their no. 9 again, driven low and hard into the back of our net. 0-2.
Second half and we go 3-5-2. Dave Botterill is on for John Scarborough. With 2 minutes gone, a Whyteleafe forward, their left, drives inside, low shot, Rob French makes a decent save, but still, somehow the ball finds the net. We're a bit unlucky there-t'was a decent block. So, it's going to be one of those days. The proverbial mountain to climb. But a glimmer, a few signs that we're up for the descent. Jack Harris is first to the ball in their area, keeper comes, makes no connection with the ball, takes Jack out. Looks a penalty to me. Ref waives it away-this is not our day. Whyteleafe go straight up the other end, shot form outside the box. Hits the left hand post. On 65, Stuart King is on for George Monger. So three up front. Almost a dream start for Stuart King, played in down our right, a shot across the keeper, keeper gets his right hand to it, corner. Did it hit the post on it's way out? Not sure, but it was that close. Wayne Wilson takes the corner, the ball comes to Josh Stanford, brings it forward and unleashes, low into the right hand side. Fine goal. And the tide has turned (72 mins). On 77, a break down our left, Jamie Maxted to Jack Harris, Jamie continues his run, Jack returns the compliment, Jamie is bundled over in the box. Wayne Wilson makes short work of the penalty. And it's now becoming one way traffic. Wayne Wilson has a 28 yard free-kick tipped over the bar. Jamie Maxted has a header from a corner saved. Numerous near misses-but that elusive equaliser remains, well, elusive.
So, a fantastic last 25 from us, but we left ourselves far too much to do. But-we still nearly got a point.
So reasons to be cheerful:
a) let us not forget-still second in R1S. 22 other R1S sides would like to be where we are. b) the response. A poor first half, yes, but still we nearly turn it around.
Sponsors' MOM: Jamie Maxted.
A quick word for our Leafy visitors. A fine array of songs. Particularly loving the very fine "Leafe will tear you apart". Splendid.

Great game, but I am not sure how Faversham didn't get at least a point out of this game.
First half was an even and drab affair until about 5 minutes before the goal. Town upped the tempo and were unlucky not to take the lead with a few good half chances. Henry capitalised on some poor defending and from there it looked like Leafe would go on and win with ease.
The second half looked as though it would carry on from how the first ended as Leafe got an early goal but the shake up at half time obviously done the trick as Faversham looked a lot brighter. Some good football was played and it paid off as they were quickly back into it with chances and goals. Towards the end Leafe took the sting out of the game with some well timed substitutions and time wasting. This ended the game as a contest as Faversham lost their momentum but in truth it was to little to late from town.
2 things, their keeper was shocking. Flapped all over the place and made the game there for the taking, secondly the lino was good value, always nice to see.
Roll on the next game, up the whites
