I thought I should leave this message as, this Saturday, I am going to be moving up to Newcastle for the foreseeable future!
Over the past few weeks, I have been looking at doing an NCTJ course (a fast track version of a masters degree) with the Press Association.
Last Wednesday, I went for an interview and to do some tests to see if I was suitable for the course in their London base.
I then received an email at the start of this week, saying I was suitable for the course, but that all the spaces were taken on the London course, which starts on Monday.
That left me with two options:
1) As I haven’t been able to find a job since I graduated from University, I could keep applying for jobs and join the next London course if I still hadn’t had any luck. But the next course would not start until August and would mean, potentially, a lot of waiting around doing nothing.
2) Or I could move up to Newcastle and start the course this Monday.
As I have family in the Newcastle area which I can stay with, I have chosen to do the latter.
Unfortunately, this does mean that I will not be around for the rest of the season because it is a very intense 17-week course.
It’s a shame to miss the rest of the reason (Dorking Wanderers and East Grinstead are now the only two grounds in the Ryman South I haven’t been to and I will be missing the League Cup Semi-Final – and hopefully – the Final, too… And I’ll also be missing both matches against Whitstable, which are bound to be interesting)!
As the course is so intense, I may not be able to update the website or the blog quite as regularly, but I will continue to do so when I can.
The one aspect that will be majorly affected is match reporting.
The major thing that will now need to be sorted in terms of match reporting is sending a match report to the Non-League Paper on a Saturday evening.
From every home match which takes place on a Saturday, they require a 120-word report, a match rating out of five and a man-of-the-match, which they publish in the Paper for that Sunday.
They need the report by 6pm on the Saturday evening.
As the NLP is a national newspaper, that is the one area, where someone will have to write a report in my place.
If somebody is interested in doing this, they would need to email the report to Nlpreports@hotmail.co.uk
Due to the short notice, I don’t expect a reporter to be sorted out in time for this Saturday’s match with Whitstable and have emailed the Non-League Paper, advising them to make alternative arrangements.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing – and hopefully seeing through CJK's excellent videos – how we get on throughout the rest of the season!
Good luck for the rest of the season.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
