Another difficult match tomorrow!
This will be an interesting one because I have spoken to a few people that went to East Grinstead's match with Whitstable, which happened to be Mr Wilson and Cox's first in charge, a few weeks ago.
East Grinstead won that game 3-2 but the reports back seemed to suggest neither side looked particularly good and both looked like they could well struggle this year.
Well, since then, East Grinstead have been in very good form and are starting to move up the league table!
So, I dare say that East Grinstead will be a much tougher proposition, than they might have been had we played them a few weeks ago.
They seem to have quite a young squad.
However, they seem to have a few Gillingham youngsters (including Connor Hendricks who, I think, played a few times for our under-21s recently), so they will be no mugs.
Of course, it is a blow to be without both Jamie Maxted and John Scarborough but it will be a good test of our squad!
We should have enough to win this match - we have enough experienced players like Botterill, Bourne, Stuart King and Co to exploit their inexperience.
However, any sign of complacency on our part could cause some real problems!
See you tomorrow.

Faversham Town 2-1 East Grinstead Town
Starting line up:
William Godmon, Ryan Cooper, Daniel Carrington, Matthew Bourne, Josh McCallum, Josh Stanford, George Monger, David Botterill, Charley Robertson, Liam King, Stuart King.
A tough looking fixture against a resurgent East Grinstead and a very important 3 points. And to this commentator, this feels like a big 3 points. Can't say I can justify that statement (maybe/probably an overstatement), but I'm sticking with it. It felt, well, kind of pivotal. A slow start from us. It takes us 15 minutes to register our first decent chance. A Liam King turn and shot from the edge of the area forces the keeper into a decent save to his right. A few minutes later, we fall behind. Ryan Cooper loses out on the right, their man drifts into the box and unleashes a low shot across goal and into the far corner. 0-1. We're still not into our stride, but Liam King latches on to a Stuart King knockdown to send a curling shot just wide of the right upright from some 20 yards. An East Grinstead corner, their right, and a goalmouth scramble. Plenty of bodies from both sides in there. I think 2 off the line clearances/blocks, but crucially, importantly, our goalline isn't breached. But, we've started to put some decent passages of play together. Culminating on 35 minutes, Charley Robertson on the left, drifts inside, to Liam King, to Stuart King on the right, Stuart goes inside his man, shoots. The defender's hands are raised, handball. Charley Robertson's firmly struck penalty nestles very nicely in the back of the net, sending the keeper the wrong way for good measure. 1-1. A Ryan Cooper long throw is met by David Botterill's backward header, just over. 1-1 at H-T.
Early second half and East Grinstead survive a goalmouth scramble of their own. Ryan Cooper's goal bound shot is blocked and then a second shot (missed by whom) is also blocked. And a glaring omission from me. I've neglected to mention how bleedin' windy it was out there. Perfectly illustrated when the wind alarmingly alters the intended trajectory of an East Grinstead cross, it's suddenly going in, but our keeper, back peddling, manages to tip it over. Fantastic save. A decent move down our right, cross into the box, Ryan Coopers's shot is well saved. And now East Grinstead, down their right, cross to the back stick, William Godmon's positioning is spot on, decent save from the header. And on 62, Stuart King on the edge of the box, the shot is blocked, retains possession, forced left, left some more, still going left, pulls the trigger, low and hard into the far corner. Great strike. Quality finish. 2-1. Late on we have a spell when we struggle to get out of our half and we survive a couple of scares. An East Grinstead drilled ball across our goal, but nobody to finish. And a free-kick (generously given by the referee). A fine free-kick, it's going in. Goal. But no. From where I was standing (A2 halfway line), we all thought it was in - how did that not go in? is there a hole in that net? But huge relief as it sinks in-no goal. Close call. With 5 to go, Ashley Brown and Renford Tenyue are on for Stuart King and Liam King. 2-1 at F-T.
So, to comment further. Why not. I rate this win. A very, very good win against difficult opponents. T'was tough out there, and yes, a bit of luck at times. But we earned that result today. Capped with a fine, fine goal. To go full circle, a big 3 points.
So, reasons to be cheerful:
a) a big win. Sets us up nicely for the games over the festive period. b) up to 6th now. Knocking on that play-off door. c) ShoutyMark gets to see an FTFC victory. Huzzah. Fully deserved.
